What is Travel Tuesday and when does it take place in 2025?

4:01

Hello, traveller! Have you heard about **Travel Tuesday** and want to understand why this **“travel Tuesday”** has been creating so much buzz in recent years, **when it takes place**, and **how to make the most of it wisely**? Then you’ve landed on the guide you need: here comes a **clear**, **straight-to-the-point** post with **no fluff**, so you can understand the **historical and commercial context** behind Travel Tuesday — and then know exactly **how to take full advantage of the deals** it brings with it.

[![what-is-travel-tuesday](https://blog.mytoptour.es/hs-fs/hubfs/que-es-tavel-tuesday.jpg?width=960&height=540&name=que-es-tavel-tuesday.jpg)](https://blog.mytoptour.es/travel-tuesday-que-es-cuando?hsLang=en)

## First things first… How and why was Travel Tuesday born?

Imagine this: the post-Thanksgiving shopping fever in the United States ends with screens full of discounts on gadgets, clothes, gaming consoles… the usual **Black Friday** madness followed by **Cyber Monday**. But… what if we used that powerful buying impulse for what we truly want? Not for a new TV, but for… **travelling**. That’s where **Travel Tuesday** comes in.

It was born as a fairly commercial idea, true, but it taps into something deeper: nowadays people prefer to **live experiences rather than accumulate things**. That’s why Travel Tuesday emerged and has become a key date, a simple excuse, really to plan your next getaway, rather than buying for the sake of buying.

The term was coined in **2017**, after airlines and booking engines noticed a significant spike in **flight searches** on the Tuesday right after Thanksgiving. Since then, the **travel industry** (airlines, hotels, travel agencies) has seen the opportunity to launch its own **travel-discount day**, separate from the traditional Black Friday and Cyber Monday events.

## So, what exactly is Travel Tuesday?

So, **Travel Tuesday** is that “**travel deals celebration**” that takes place on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, and what began as a simple data pattern has evolved into an important annual event, full of both commercial intention and consumer interest.

Ultimately, it’s a day focused on **discounts, offers and special attention to the travel sector**: flights, hotels, holiday packages, activities… everything related to **going on a trip**, beyond traditional consumer goods. In other words, right after the usual shopping weekend (**Black Friday** and **Cyber Monday**), comes a day dedicated exclusively to the **travel industry**.

## When does Travel Tuesday 2025 take place?

Travel Tuesday takes place on the **Tuesday immediately after Thanksgiving** in the United States, which falls on the **fourth Thursday of November**. To make it clear:

- In **2025**, it will be on **Tuesday, 2 December**.
- The date changes every year depending on when Thanksgiving falls, but it is **always** that specific Tuesday right after.
